A couple of months ago i was excited upon hearing that the Singapore govt is going to restructure their baby bonus scheme to encourage more Singaporeans to have babies. So i thought yeah!!i will get more money. Not saying the money is enough to support a kid, but better than nothing right???
My hope was dampen after I read about the National Day rally by our Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong that the baby bonus will only take effect for baby born on 1st Jan 2009. Yesterday the latest news about baby bonus was that they going to back date it from 17th august 08 onwards, which means all babies born on and after 17th August 08 will be qualify for the new package. Yeah !!!! It means my baby who will be born in October will be entitle to the increase of $1000 from $3000 to $4000.

This extra 1k will go to my holiday fund which i desperate need one.
The new scheme sounds very attractive but too bad i am no longer staying in Singapore. 4mths paid maternity leave can you imagine that. No need to work for 4 months and yet get pay how nice right. I hope the goverment here should have something similar.
