Sharlene has landed

Yes, for those who know how much i wanted the baby to be out during my last few weeks of pregnancy, she had finally decided to come out and meet the world on 16th Ocotber 2008. And guess what I survived with natural birth and the only pain relief i had was gas.

14th October
Contractions kicks in, which I still thought was normal stomachahe as I had been having stomache practically everyday and the interval in between was really fall apart.

15th October
I had a show in the morning,so happily thinking the baby will be out today. But after having few contractions and waiting for 1 whole day, nothing seems to happen. Another uneventful day for me.

10.30pm
Till around night time the pain was back again and each pain was getting more and more intense with 8-10mins apart. (Thanks for Anne's advice as while we were chatting in the afternoon she told me to time each contraction as the midwife will ask)

I couldn't sleep because of the pain, so i decided to continue with my hong kong drama series while the rest of them had gone to bed. (my mum, sean & hubby). The pain was getting nearer and nearer but was still bearable though.

16th October
2.30am
By 2.30am I can no longer sit down to enjoy my movie.I had to walk around the house every 5-10mins as each ontractions kicks in because it was getting more painful and by walking somehow i feel can ease the pain a little.

3.00am
Woke Jerry up, ask him if i should go to the hospital.

4.00am
"Shucks" The pain is too much for me. Decided to that the chance and leave for the hospital. With me almost dying with pain, my cute hubby can still drive slowly according to the speed limit on the road like 40-50km/per hr.

4.30am
Admitted to hospital, strapped me up on the CTG machine but strangely the contractions seems to dissappear. DUH!!I felt stupid as i have told the midwife that each contraction was about 5mins apart earlier and now she was standing there for almost 20mins looking at the CTG and waiting for me to prompt her when each pain kicks in but nothing seems to happen.

6.00am
She did a internal check on me and commented that i was 4cm dilated. She mentioned that i look cool and did well. Hell!!! i was in pain and freaking out inside! BUT to keep my pride intact, i continued to smile through her praises.

8.00am
Doc came to check, am 7cm dilated. He broke my water bag i felt faint already... I was offered the laughing gas as the first choice of pain relieve and i gladly accept it.I felt much better.

10.30am
Unbearable pain, needed stronger form of pain relief.Request for epidural. I think i need to poo, can;t bear any longer. Doctor came but it's too late to have epi by then because the baby is coming out anytime.I was in so much pain that i literally shouting "GIVE ME THE EPIDURAl", I don't want to push anymore.Tried few pushes, nothing happened, was ask to push harder again as the miidwife was saying only by me pushing the baby out then the pain will be gone. Only i can help myself now.So 1 more hard and long push, finally Sharlene has landed.

Ironically the pain gone immediately. The room was in total silent as all i can hear of was Sharlene screaming behind. I look at the clock it was few more minutes before lunch time. The midwife jokingly says the baby wants to come out for lunch..We had some bonding time with Sharlene in our arms while they deliver the placenta and stitched me up.

Overall it was really a new experience for me, finally get to understand and experience what it was like to give birth naturally. But the process and pain was scary though. Now that I had tried both ways of delivering, given a choice I will choose C-Section because you just don't feel any pain at all.But this is just a personal choice.
